Why is it so hard to find an artist who will tattoo your hands? Hand tattoos are an excellent way to express yourself and an easy way to show off art on your body.
The hands are one of the most visible locations to get a tattoo and look beautiful and eye-catching. So, why don’t artists like to do these tattoos? You see, hands have many pros, but also many cons when it comes to tattoos.
Hands tattoos are one of the quickest types of tattoos to fade and or blur. This is due to the fact that our hands have rapid skin cell regeneration properties. The skin in our hands is some of the most used areas in the body, so in turn the body is quick to heal and “replace” the skin in that spot. Hands also move plenty and generate a lot of friction. Due to this, many artists dislike giving hand tattoos because they often need constant cover-ups and look less clean faster then any other spot and the artists don’t want to spend time on art which won’t last.
More on the client side of things. Hand tattoos can be a very painful spot to get tattooed. This is due to this part of the body not having a lot of fats or mussels to comfort the nerves. So, many people steer away from hand tattoos and artists can be leery for fear of the clients moving a lot during a tattoo as detailed as a hand tattoo.
Similar to the first point, hands can have a difficult time healing, which in turn could likely blur or fade the tattoo. The hand moves so much and is around so much friction it may take nearly twice as long to fully heal compared to an arm tattoo or a leg tattoo because the hand is full of joints.
However, hand tattoos are not a bad decision at all. They can be beautiful and dainty and well worth the time and money. Many people also enjoy the fact that the tattoos are likely to fade because it’s the most “temporary” a tattoo can get.
If you do your research and go to the right artist, their quality work can help lessen the hand tattoo risks and help them to last much much longer than an artist who isn’t as versed in hand tattoos.
